Why Is Copper Important In Ayurveda?

In Ayurveda, Copper is considered an essential mineral for overall health and well-being. Here are some reasons why copper is important in Ayurveda:

  • Imbalance of Doshas: Copper is believed to balance the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) in the body. It helps to pacify Vata dosha, which is responsible for dryness, coldness, and lightness.
  • Antioxidant properties: Copper has antioxidant properties that help protect the body from free radicals and oxidative stress.
  • Brain function: Copper is involved in the production of neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, which regulate mood, appetite, and sleep.
  • Spiritual significance: In Ayurveda, copper is associated with the spiritual center of the body (Manipura chakra), which is responsible for personal power, self-esteem, and creativity.

Moreover, copper is infinitely recyclable, meaning it can be reused and repurposed indefinitely without losing its inherent properties. Recycling copper requires significantly less energy compared to mining and processing new copper ore, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact.
